Richard Yip Abstract Watercolor

Abstract watercolor by Richard Yip (1919-1981). The sight lines are 23 1/2″ w. x 17″ h. Born Canton, China; Studied: California College of Arts and Crafts (Oakland), College of the Pacific (California), University of California (Berkeley), Member: California Water Color Society. Richard Yip emigrated from China to America in 1931, and while still in high school received a scholarship to study art at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. During World War II, he served in the United States Air Force and afterwards settled in Stockton. Yip finished his studies at the University of California, Berkeley and began exhibiting his watercolors. He spent much of his life teaching watercolor painting. He was an instructor at the College of the Pacific for many years and conducted private classes in watercolor painting. Taken from California Watercolors 1850-1970.
